Find Out How To Spend A Weekend Away, At Home In Mt. Barker

Now that Summer is approaching, we thought we could take another tour of Mt. Barker to give you some inspiration for a weekend away, at home!

FRIDAY

Work week, over! Head straight to The Barker Hotel. This award-winning family-friendly establishment is a pillar of the greater Adelaide Hills community. In 2011 The Barker was awarded Best Bistro/Casual Dining, Best Bar Presentation & Service, and Best Redeveloped Hotel by the South Australian Hotels Association at the Annual Awards Gala. And, on top of all that? They are a friendly bunch of people who know and love their clientele.

“Our customers love to support local so we offer great local foods and wines extensively on the menus. Our customer favourite is still our mouth-watering pub classic chicken schnitzel!”

SATURDAY

Take it easy, turn off the alarm and take in the amazing views from your new home at Amblemead. We have stunning views from a wide range of allotments including vistas over the waterfront reserve, sensational sunrises overlooking the hills to the East and beautiful sunsets where all allotments are bathed in the afternoon sunshine.

Summer is approaching, do you need to refresh the wardrobe this season? Look no further than Pearle Boutique. We had the pleasure of chatting with owner Alexandra, who has spent the last four years creating a beautiful fashion oasis on Mt. Barkers, Gawler Street.

Before you make the pilgrimage there, dose up at Sazón Espresso just a few doors down. The staff are down to earth and the coffee is second to none in the Hills.

When the excitement of the morning’s activities wear off, enjoy the natural beauty of Mt. Barker on walking trails that surround the picturesque town. With construction underway at Amblemead, soon you will also be able to take the kids, pets, in-laws, new neighbours…down to the Amblemead Reserve and just bask in the beauty of it all!

SUNDAY

A ride on a steam engine should be on the bucket list, right? Well at least for the little ones! The Steam Ranger is a tourist train that runs from Mt. Barker to various destinations. Make a day of it stopping at destinations like Port Elliot (the local bakery and boutique shops will not disappoint - money back guarantee I promise!) or Victor Harbour, where you can explore Granite Island by Horse Drawn Tram and take in the stunning coastlines.

We love Mt. Barker for what it offers the growing community and we hope that you can enjoy it all from your new forever home at Amblemead!
