From Friday to Sunday here are our suggestions for a weekend away, at home in Amblemead!
The work week is over. You’ve picked the kids up from school and they are with the babysitter (Yes!). And if you don’t have little ones, then you have started early at the Historic Mount Lofty House for an aperitif, overlooking the Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills.
You will not be disappointed by the flavours on the menu and most importantly, the wine! After something a bit more casual? Ok, how about the Stirling Hotel for a meal at The Grill. The crowd is welcoming and the energy is vibrant.
Rise and shine we have a big day planned! Start at the Adelaide Hills Farmers’ Market in Mount Barker. Rain or Shine, local producers and purveyors of homemade goodies, will be at their stalls from 8:30am-12:30pm every Saturday. The food is fresh, seasonal and local. Trust us, you will not leave with just one bag!
Continue on driving along the rolling hills to The Lane Vineyard, where a recently opened cellar door is an added incentive to make the trip. The Winery was also awarded Star Cellar Door 2016 in the Adelaide Hills by the Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine. The surrounds are unbelievable and your senses will be invigorated!
Carry on to Hahndorf and treat your kids to a stroll through the Hahndorf Fairy Gardens to pick up a rainbow windmill or Spanish elf for your front yard; they will be beside themselves with joy! Stay in Hahndorf (there really is no reason to leave) and head straight to
