Driving into Mt. Barker, the shoulders relax and you exhale. You really do. We took the day to explore this peaceful area and it started off with a visit to Sazón Espresso, a Mt. Barker mainstay owned by cousins Oswaldo and Jose Estralla. The line to order was out the door, but it moved quickly. We took a banquet seat at the back to watch the activity.
Have you had a Sazón Square yet? You must. It’s the grown-up version of a sandwich with the crust cut off and it was delicious. We also tried the mushroom and sundried tomato quesadilla. Just enough oil and crunch to rate it on the ’10 best quesadilla’ list (if there is one!). And coffee? We had several rounds. The brew was balanced and strong and just plain fabulous. Throw in a banana smoothie for the little ones and lunch is perfection!
The staff were so lovely and we know our future residents of Amblemead will enjoy coming to places like Sazón, that make Mt. Barker a brilliant place to live! Be sure to check out our blog for more community stories and updates from Amblemead.
