Find out why Ash and Jack are building their forever home at Amblemead!
We took some time to speak with Ash and Jack, our newest members of the Amblemead community. We wanted to know what they are looking forward to about building their new home and we just loved hearing their story!
Why have you chosen to live in Mt. Barker?
Ash: It was a no brainer for us really! We both grew up out north in Salisbury and Smithfield so initially we thought perhaps something out this way.
Jack: Living out North just wasn't practical with me based at the Woodside Army Barracks and Ash currently working in town. The time on the road and distance from home wasn't working for us! Mt. Barker on the other hand is the perfect distance for work; it's close enough to the city that there isn’t a crazy commute, but far enough away that you feel like you’re in the country.
Ash: AND when you compare land prices, Mt. Barker offers generous land sizes at reasonable prices (with the luxury of being surrounded by wineries!)
What features of the Amblemead made you think, Yes, I can live here!
Jack: We love how close Amblemead is to the town centre, but again that it was far enough away that it didn’t feel like it. We ended up timing it from the exit of the expressway to the block itself and it was only about 4 minutes, maybe 5. That and the local schools close by, the man made lake at the entrance, the plans for the park so close to our block...we want to build this as our “forever” home to eventually raise a family in and Amblemead ticks all the boxes in that respect (especially the price!).
What are you looking forward to the most about living in the Amblemead community? About your new home?
Ash: Honestly we’re just looking forward to having our own space! I live at home with my mum and sister, while Jack lives on the Army Barracks with 2 other people and we just felt like we were at the point in our relationship where we needed a space we could call ours. Amblemead has such an amazing, family focused vision in terms of the design plan and I guess personally what I’m looking forward to the most is being able to bring our future children up in such a warm and welcoming environment. For Jack its probably more about just being able to watch the footy or cricket in peace!
What’s the number one item on your ‘must have’ list for your home right now?
Ash: It’s so hard to pick just one! We have been looking around at furniture and compiling a list to give us a better idea of budget and it turns out we have quite expensive taste!
Jack: The one thing we keep coming back to though and focusing more attention on is a GOOD couch! Something you can sink into at the end of a long day in your own home and just relax, look around and remember that all the hard work is worth it.
We love sharing these stories because behind every beautiful house facade, are beautiful people that transform a land development into a thriving community. Where will your story begin?
